Bahrain National Dialogue

His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Al Dhahrani Chairman of the Representatives Council and Chairman of the National Dialogue has reiterated that all stages of the national dialogue will be transparent and objective, He asserted that the people of Bahrain are facing a historic opportunity to overcome this critical stage through a national dialogue without any preconditions, its ceiling is the consensus among all components of society and its goal is bringing together the different opinions to share views and common denominators that contribute towards further development in all fields.

The National Dialogue, which was called for by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, will start on July 2nd, 2011 (Saturday) with the participation of more than 300 figures, representing all segments of the Bahraini community.

Mr. Isa Abdul Rahman, spokesman for the national dialogue revealed that the meetings for the national dialogue will be held during the evening of Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday each week from five o'clock until nine o'clock and will include the interpretation for non-Arabic speaking attendees. He pointed out that the dialogue sessions and meetings dedicated for the discussion of the themes will be limited only to participants in the respective dialogue sessions.

HE Mr. Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the National Dialogue said "that meeting at the same table is itself a first step towards a consensus," stressing his confidence in the ability of session managers to contribute to the management of the dialogue sessions, thanking them for the effort they gave in preparing for this important project, as "this dialogue is a good opportunity for love and consensus, and every citizen must believe in the importance of this reform initiative, for it serves the country and citizens, and shapes the future of our children and future generations, who will live in Bahrain, the country of love, peace and brotherhood."

HE Mr. Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the National Dialogue, has paid tribute to the contents of the speech by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, which included unerring guidance and civilized vision strengthening the rule of law and institutions, and highlighting the bright image of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and confirming the continuation of the reform project and democratic process, and promoting partnership in decision-making through parliamentary and constitutional institutions, and through the comprehensive National Dialogue.

Parliament Speaker and Chairman of the Bahrain National Dialogue HE Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani has stressed that all views and issues that have been submitted by all invitees from the political associations, civil society institutions, figures and the media will be listed and categorised based on the themes that have been announced (political, economic, social, and legal)

National Dialogue Spokesman  Mr. Isa Abdul Rahman, unveiled that the number of participations in the National Dialogue has touched 297. He added that participation rates have exceeded the 94% edge on the basis of invitations sent to political societies, civil organisations, public personalities, and media figures. He remarked that political societies have been given the opportunity to delegate 5 representatives each, as these societies are much interested in public affairs.

Spokesman of the National Dialogue, Mr. Isa Abdul Rahman, unveiled that invitations has been sent to 50 parties to present their views within the section dedicated to residents and foreign communities. The National Dialogue will feature, in fact, participations representing foreign communities from several segments, such as clubs and religious institutions.

Refusal of any group to participate in the National Dialogue will not mean failure of the initiative, officials said yesterday.

Success of the talks that will commence on July 1 not only depends on the representatives but also on their approach and recommendations that could be translated into actual improvements in society.

Parliament Speaker and Chairman of the Bahrain National Dialogue His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani announced that the chairmanship of the National Dialogue has received more than 150 views and issues for the National Dialogue. He added that the participants will be representing political societies, civil society organisations, and media along with prominent figures in the society  in order to  to ensure that the various segments of the Bahraini society are represented at the National Dialogue sessions.
